The rules for using this site, buying the music and books, and joining The Mending Place. Short, and in plain English.

This is not crisis help
Lisa is a survivor, an author and a songwriter. She is not a counsellor, therapist, lawyer or crisis worker, and nothing on this site is medical, legal or professional advice. The Mending Place is a community, not a crisis service.
What is here comes from her own life. It may help. It is not a substitute for a professional, and it cannot respond to an emergency.
If you are in danger, call 911. The National Domestic Violence Hotline is 1-800-799-7233, free and open all day and night, or text START to 88788.
Using this site
Read it, listen to it, share a link to it. What you may not do is copy the writing, the music or the artwork and pass it off as yours, resell any of it, or use it to train a machine-learning model.
Buying the music
Buying a single or the collection gets you a personal copy to listen to, keep, and put on your own devices. It does not transfer ownership of the song.
That means it is fine to:
- Listen anywhere, as much as you like.
- Keep it on your phone, your computer, your car.
And not fine to:
- Re-upload it, share the file, or sell it on.
- Use it in a video, an advert, a podcast or any commercial project without asking first.
Sync licensing and commercial use are a real conversation and she is open to it. Ask through the contact page.
Buying the books
The same idea. A copy of Unbroken or a journal is yours to read and use. It is not yours to redistribute, republish or resell.
Refunds
Digital downloads cannot be returned once they have been downloaded, so they are not usually refundable. If something is broken, will not download, or is not what was described, email lisa@lisaturman.com and it will be sorted out. She would rather fix it than keep money from someone unhappy.
The free guide and the email list
The guide is free with no conditions attached. Asking for it puts you on her email list, and every email has an unsubscribe link. Leaving the list does not take the guide away from you.
The Mending Place
It is free to join and there is no test to pass. Be decent to the other people in it. Anything shared there stays there. Behaviour that puts other members at risk means losing access.
The transitional housing and the nonprofit are what she is building toward. They are a goal, not a service that exists today, and this site says so wherever they are mentioned.
Links out
Links to other websites are there because they are useful. She does not control them and is not responsible for what is on them.
Names
The Mending Place™ is her trademark. Ravyn Mae is her artist name and is her, not a separate person or a band.
Changes
These terms can change. When they do, the date at the top of this page changes with them.
